People, Place and Belonging

True North approaches community development through the combined lens of human habitat, human infrastructure and attainable housing.

Human habitat

More than the built environment

Human habitat includes homes, neighborhoods, public spaces, infrastructure and the natural systems that support daily life and a sense of belonging.

Human infrastructure

People and capacity matter

Education, workforce skills, community engagement, access to services and institutional relationships all influence whether housing and development can succeed over time.

Community Housing Advocacy and Engagement

Alongside his residential brokerage career, Michael Daly has played a longstanding role in community housing education, advocacy and public engagement across the East End.

He founded East End YIMBY and played a role in the campaign supporting the 2022 Peconic Bay Region Community Housing Fund referendum. His community work has emphasized the East End's human infrastructure—the teachers, first responders, healthcare workers, tradespeople and other local residents who help sustain community life.

His broader community involvement includes housing-policy education, public service, workforce mentorship through the Teach Me How To Fish program, and recognition with AIA Peconic's 2026 Community Award for his contribution to Community Housing and the East End's built environment.

Community housing in public life

Education, engagement and the 2022 campaign

East End YIMBY materials document community education and public engagement around the Peconic Bay Region Community Housing Fund referendum. This work belongs to Michael Daly's community-development history and remains separate from his private brokerage practice.
