Human Habitat
The natural and built environment where people live, work and carry out daily life—including homes, neighborhoods, public spaces, transportation and essential services.
True North connects knowledge, people, organizations, institutions, businesses and resources to facilitate integrated housing and community-development solutions.
“Human habitat and wildlife habitat are not competing claims on the land; they are one obligation, and both can peacefully exist side by side.”
Michael Daly, Senior Advisor

True North works across disciplines and relationships. The goal is not to treat housing, community development, real estate and human capacity as separate issues when they often shape one another.
Our role is to help clarify needs, connect complementary capabilities and support collaboration among communities, municipalities, civic organizations, property owners, development partners and other stakeholders.
Strong communities need both the places where people live and the human systems that make those places viable.

The natural and built environment where people live, work and carry out daily life—including homes, neighborhoods, public spaces, transportation and essential services.
The network of people, skills, education, services and connections that allows individuals and communities to thrive.
Helping connect housing, community well-being, education, institutional collaboration and environmental responsibility around practical community needs.
True North Realty Associates helps municipalities, community organizations, and local developers turn challenging sites into community and workforce housing that actually gets built — housing that strengthens the town, village, or hamlet it sits in.
TNRA is not an advocacy organization. Our principals have spent more than a decade advocating for community housing through organizations including East End YIMBY, New York Neighbors, the Long Island Housing Coalition, and Open NewYork. TNRA was formed for what comes next: partnering directly with municipalities and communities already committed to creating community housing as human infrastructure, to retain the people who give our towns their safety, character and cultural integrity.
We work as an integrated advisory and delivery partner, combining market expertise, entitlement strategy, modular construction, local developer training, and grant sourcing under one continuous point of contact — so no client is left stitching together a patchwork of out-of-area consultants.
That stewardship extends beyond the property line. On the East End, decades of local commitment have protected farmland, wetlands, shorelines, and wildlife habitat. We believe the people who keep our communities running — teachers, first responders, farmers, caregivers — deserve that same commitment.
We treat housing as human infrastructure — for our workforce, our families, and our working landscape — built by the community, with intention, rooted in the belief that human and wildlife habitat are two halves of the same whole — our beloved East End. That is Conscious Community Development.
True North functions as a coordinating platform. Some capabilities are provided directly through True North, while others are connected through distinct organizations and professional relationships.
Those distinctions matter: connected organizations retain their own identity, role and relationship to True North.
